For our advanced media class we were assigned to illustrate Man, Pet and Machine. Our teacher made it clear that we could interpret it any way we wanted. The human could be the pet, the machine could be as simple as a knife or rock, the man and animal could be mixed. Any way we wanted to think about it

I've been taking a fun india class so i decided to do something in that direction. A goddess type character sitting on top of a giant elephant that half morphs into industrial machinery.

This is the goddess, she came out pretty much how I pictured her. Except for the fact that she has 9 arms. I say she lost one in a fight.

Nice linework. Very interesting detail in the hands and the chain! I do think the skirt seems a bit bulky or otherwise off toward the end but overall I love the drawing.

The contrast is outstanding, and the design rocks

not too good I think. I never figured out how to make her fit on top of her elephant in a way that looked good.

i had to make them seperate, It's hard to tell but i drew them pretty big and I didn't have a paper big enough to draw both of them on.

I love this, however one thing bothered me. The uneven number of arms. Perhaps making it more visibly apparent her loss of one arm? A stump or splatter, or even a "ghost arm" to elude to the fact that one was missing on purpose and not as an oversight.

My eyes were immediately drawn to the misfit appendage and without your explanation there would be no natural conclusion as to why the uneven number. Perhaps even an industrial or prosthetic arm in it's place?

Well the uneven arm was an oversight, kinda.

I just arranged the reference pictures I had and this was the way it fit best compositionally.

In the end I didn't really have a problem with her having nine arms.
